About Finewick

Last Updated: August 31, 2026

Finewick started with a pretty simple frustration: why does it always feel like you have to choose between tableware that looks nice and tableware that actually holds up to daily use? This page is where we tell you a bit about how we got here, who's behind the brand, and what we're hoping you'll feel when a Finewick piece shows up on your table.

How It Started

Finewick was founded in 2021 by Huaixi Fu, who spent years cooking for a large extended family before ever thinking about starting a business. Family dinners were loud, a little chaotic, and always centered around a table crowded with mismatched forks, chipped bowls, and flatware that had seen better days. That contrast — how much care went into the food, and how little thought usually went into what it was served on — stuck with Huaixi long after those dinners ended.

The idea for Finewick didn't come from a business plan. It came from standing in a kitchen, tired of buying sets of flatware that discolored after a few months in the dishwasher, or plates that chipped the first time they were stacked a little too enthusiastically. Huaixi figured if this was a recurring headache at home, other households were probably dealing with the exact same thing.

Who We Are

Finewick isn't a massive corporation with a boardroom full of executives. It's a small, hands-on team made up of home cooks, a couple of product designers who care way too much about how a fork handle feels in your hand, and people with backgrounds in manufacturing who know how to ask hard questions of suppliers. Everyone on the team eats off our own products at home, which sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many kitchen brands don't actually do that.

Why Tableware, Specifically

We get asked this a lot — out of everything, why start a company around forks, spoons, plates, and bowls? The honest answer is that tableware is something almost every household touches every single day, multiple times a day, and yet it's often an afterthought. People will spend hours researching a blender they'll use twice a month, then grab whatever flatware set is cheapest at checkout. We wanted to build something for the part of the meal that's easy to overlook, but that you're actually holding in your hand the entire time you eat.

The Hard Parts Nobody Tells You About

Starting Finewick wasn't a straight line. Early on, Huaixi rejected several manufacturing partners because samples looked fine in photos but felt flimsy or showed wear within weeks of regular use. That meant longer development timelines and harder conversations than expected, at a point when there was pressure to just launch something and start selling. There were also plenty of late nights spent testing sets at home — running them through dishwashers repeatedly, checking how handles held up, and sending pieces back to the drawing board more than once when they didn't hold up the way we wanted.

None of that is a dramatic story, but it's a real one. Building tableware that's meant to be used often, not just photographed once, takes more trial and error than people expect.

What We Believe In

We think tableware should be functional first. It should hold up to regular use, sit comfortably in your hand, and not need to be replaced every year. We also believe you shouldn't need to buy a full formal dinnerware collection just to have a table setting you feel good about — everyday meals matter too, not just the occasional dinner party.

What You Can Expect From Us

When you shop with Finewick, our goal is for you to get tableware that's designed with actual daily use in mind — not just how it photographs. We also try to be upfront and straightforward about our products, our shipping, and our return process, because we'd rather you trust us with your next order than feel like you have to gamble on it. If something about your order isn't right, we want to hear about it directly, and we'll work with you to sort it out.
